MXGP: The Official Motocross Videogame has arrived on PS4 with a host of graphical and gameplay improvements, but those expecting it to run at 60 frames per second are in for a disappointment: we can confirm that, like MotoGP '14, MXGP is locked to 30 fps on PS4 compared to 60 fps on PC. Currently, then, it seems that Project CARS is the only racing game targeting 60 fps on PS4 if frame rate is a deal breaker for you.

However, the upside to this is a notable increase in the number of opponents from 16 to 22, making the races much more packed, intense and authentic, and therefore more representative of the real world championship.

More AI riders was clearly a priority for Milestone – the video above recorded a few months back at Gamescom shows an earlier build of MXGP on PS4 running at 60 fps, but with 16 on-screen opponents.

We're currently putting MXGP through its paces on PS4, so expect extensive written and video coverage coming soon to TeamVVV.

Would you rather MXGP ran at 60 frames per second on PS4 or do you think it was a worthy trade-off for the increased rival riders? The faster frame rate certainly improved the fidelity of the controls in the PC version, but the extra opponents is certainly welcome. Have your say in the comments below.
