The McLaren-Honda Formula One team has revealed its new "World's Fastest Gamer" esports event – and confirms it will employ the winner as a simulator driver.
First teased earlier this week, the new competition will run across the summer and autumn of 2017. The grand final will be hosted at the McLaren-Honda Formula One team's headquarters in Woking, with the reward for the victorious entrant being an offer of a one-year contract as a simulator driver at the McLaren Technology Centre.
On top of testing the racing abilities of the contestants "across a variety of different gaming titles on different platforms", the 'World's Fastest Gamer' competition will also examine the engineering knowledge, team-working skills and mental and physical aptitude of the applicants.
More details on this new esports event and how to participate in it will likely be disclosed in the coming weeks.
