Game: Mantis Burn Racing
Platform: PC, PS4, Switch, XBox One
Publisher: VooFoo Studios
Release Date: 05/07/2016
The upcoming Nintendo Switch port of Mantis Burn Racing is shaping up to be potentially the best version of VooFoo Studios’ addictive indie racer yet. The top-down perspective seems well-suited to the Switch when playing in handheld mode, and all downloadable content released so far will be bundled into the package, making it the definitive version.
We recently had a hands-on with a work-in-progress version of Mantis Burn Racing running on Nintendo Switch, and found it to be very enjoyable. There wasn’t a noticeable reduction in visual fidelity, and sliding around corners felt just as fun and intuitive as other versions of the game. At the time, the game wasn’t fully optimised for the Nintendo Switch console and struggled to hit 60fps like on other formats which seemed like a shame, as this was the only noticeable compromise.
VooFoo also confirmed that three and four player local will be locked at 30fps, with while two player split-screen will run at a variable 30-60fps. Cross-play will also be supported between Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Steam players. No release date for Mantis Burn Racing on Nintendo Switch has been confirmed yet, but we’ll keep you posted.
