It may not have garnered much attention lately thanks to the utterly sublime Trials Evolution hogging the limelight on XBLA, but Ubisoft and Dead Island developer Techland are preparing to unleash Mad Riders, a new off-road racing game set for release on May 30th for XBLA, PSN and PC.
Essentially a downloadable spiritual successoor to Techland's very similar-looking Nail'd, Mad Riders offers fast and furious off-road racing with ATVs and buggies across 45 globe-trotting tracks filled with shortcuts, with an emphasis on boosting and performing "gnarly" aerial tricks and stunts. Vehicles and riders can be heavily customised, and online multiplayer will be available in 3 modes for up to 12 players.
Whether it will live up to standard set by Pure remains to be seen, but, as the trailer proudly proclaims, Mad Riders is "an awesome game for the price of a Pizza", i.e. 800 Microsoft points and £7.99 on PSN. Hopefully they're referring to that of a freshly made, devine deep pan pizza with stuffed crust and extra toppings from Pizza Hut rather than an overcooked frozen cheese and tomato pizza from Tesco.
