Don't you just hate it when developers try to unnecessarily shoehorn a storyline into a driving game? Well, in the case of LittleBigPlanet Karting I may have to make an exception. Sackboy is simply too insufferably cute to argue otherwise.
Once again the citizens of Craftworld are under threat, this time by a menace known as the Horde. Apparently, the story will pick up from where LittleBigPlanet 2 left off, as, following the defeat of the Negativitron in LittleBigPlanet 2, the Horde speed into Craftworld in order to steal its stash of prizes.
It's therefore up to our favourite stuffed-Sackboy to save the day, and this somehow all pans out in a series of kart races. Still, LittleBigPlanet's vibrant worlds and characters have always had a quirky edge to them that make the otherwise inconsequential storyline much more endearing.
This latest trailer for LittleBigPlanet Karting gives us a brief insight into the central storyline, with the ever-charming Stephen Fry once again on narratin duties:
You've also got to love the character designs of the Horde – as you can see in the gallery below, they all look as if they belong in a malevolent Sackboy biker gang.
I'm stil curious to see how LittleBigPlanet will work in the context of a racing game, particularly when part of the appeal of LittleBigPlanet 2 was the ability to branch into other genres with its absurdly advanced level creator.
We'll find out soon, however, as LittleBigPlanet Karting is due to cross over the finish line November 9th.
