Game: The Crew

Platform: PC, PS4, XBox One

Publisher: Ubisoft

Release Date: 01/12/2014

Ivory Tower have announced that their open-world racer The Crew will be getting new leagues to spice up their player vs player (PvP) racing. The leagues are due to arrive on June 3 and will allow you to climb the PvP ladder which will grant you access to a variety of prizes ranging from bronze to platinum.

There are four leagues in total – platinum, gold, silver and bronze each with four divisions a piece. All players will start out in the bronze league with the goal of working their way up into higher divisions and leagues. Each league and division grants you specific rewards such as rims, stickers and colours, check out the gold league colour and rims below for example.

In order to get yourself promoted into higher divisions and leagues you'll need to finish in the top places in The Crew's PvP races. In a 8 player race you'll get 'plus points' for finishing in the top three places, 'neutral points' for a 4th or 5th place and 'negative points' for finishing in the bottom three places. In a 4 person race you'll only score plus points for the very top place, 2nd or 3rd will net you neutral and last place provides the negative points as expected. Take a look at the table below which displays the points for 8 player racers (extreme left) counting down to two player races (extreme right).

By default the game will try to match you with players of a similar skill, ofcourse this may not always be possible, however defeating a player from a much higher league will grant you a lot more points as an added bonus. A neat feature is the fact that if you take a break from PvP races you will not be demoted into lower divisions or leagues.

There's a livery for every league and division so you can show everyone how high up the ladder you are currently at, see the picture below for an example of a platinum division 4 car.

Every time you move up a division, a new category is unlocked giving you access to specific rewards, you can access your rewards through the new 'League Store' in the game's HQ. If you are unfortunate enough to get demoted, you'll still keep hold of your purchased items. This gives you the opportunity to wear your division 1 sticker even if you've since been relegated to division 2 for instance.

Every player in The Crew will have separate solo and crew leagues stats (see picture below).

In addition to the new leagues heading their way to The Crew, the open-world racer will also benefit from a number of new updates such as new specs for existing cars, new races, the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray early access to season pass holders and much, much more all coming on June 3 also. You can see the full changelog of the update below.
