Codemasters has released their fourth and final developer diary video for F1 2018 just in time for the launch on August 24 across the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms.
The last developer diary of the series focuses on the visual improvements made to this year’s officially licensed Formula One title.
As the sky takes up around half of the player’s view at any one time, it’s not surprising that a sizeable portion of the budget has gone into making some realistic looking clouds. Codemasters explain that even on a clear day they still want to make the sky look “interesting”. This is achieved by adding a few subtle clouds or ten (so much for a beautiful blue sky then?).
Art Director Stuart Campbell also touches on trackside detail, heat haze, dust buildup, and 3D scanning techniques. Take a look for yourself below.
