Polyphony Digital CEO and Gran Turismo series mastermind Kazunori Yamauchi will be driving a BMW M6 GT3 at this weekend's Nurburgring 24 Hours endurance qualifier race.
Entered into the top SP9 class, Yamauchi will be driving one of two M6 GT3s fielded by Walkenhorst Motorsport, with his co-drivers being George Richardson, Max Sandritter and Matias Henkola.
A move to BMW power marks the first time Kazunori Yamauchi has not been behind the wheel of a Nissan GT-R at a Nurburgring endurance race since 2010. For his inaugural two races at the 'Green Hell', Yamauchi had been entered in an SP8-spec Lexus IS-F.
The announcement that Kazunori Yamauchi will be racing a BMW M6 GT3 at the Nurburgring also fuels speculation that the homologated competition car will be making its console debut in a future Gran Turismo release (the vehicle has already been confirmed for the PC-only RaceRoom Racing Experience).
