Game: Dirt Rally

Platform: PC, PS4, XBox One

Publisher: Codemasters

Release Date: 07/12/2015

Codemasters (along with various relevant industry members) have been tweeting “2.0” en masse of late potentially teasing an upcoming reveal of Dirt Rally 2.0 (although some are quick to point out the link to “Colin McRae Rally 2.0”).

While we would love to see a remastered Colin McRae Rally 2.0 game (as silly as that sounds), or a new GRID game, our money is on DiRT Rally 2. This ties in beautifully with the image showing Former British co-driver Phil Mills (who won the 2003 WRC championship as Petter Solberg’s co-driver) recording pace notes on a motion rig for Codemasters some weeks ago (right).

Mills actually revealed that a new rally game will “launch early next year” and full details will be released “in about six weeks.” That puts the official announcement just a matter of days away now so we won’t have to wait long to find out.

Interestingly, Mills also said the new rally game was “the closest to the real thing I have ever experienced”, and the official FIA World Rallycross Twitter page tweeted “2.0” too adding even more fuel to the potential DiRT Rally 2 (or should that be 2.0) fire.

Are you looking forward to DiRT Rally 2, were you hoping for a new GRID game, could this announcement be something else, let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Not because it was a bad game or I didn’t have fun, but because Codemasters said again again that the “simulation”-mode physics are an improved version of DiRT Rally and they mainly changed more accurate suspension geometry and aero model, which can’t possibly be right since it’s extremely hard to kick out the rear in RWD cars. It at least *feels* like they lied to me to get the hardcore DiRT Rally sim fans to buy this game, that really belongs in… Read more »
