Taking the step into the world of PC simulations can appear daunting at first, are they harder to play? Will I be able to keep up and not get in the way of more serious players? Ultimately simulations are more intuative than some of their arcade counterparts and the difficulty really isn't the steep learning curve many fear. This series of videos will unlock iRacing, showing you what I learn as I learn it, eventually forming a complete career guide that will continue to grow as my experience evoloves and develops within this wonderland of automotive sport.

iRacing has been around for almost 4 years but despite that not many console gamers have ever given it a second look. The initial advertising aimed towards a US audience it was seen very much as a NASCAR simulator and when I say simulator I mean that in the most negative way. Simulations on the whole have lacked visual appeal and any tactile involvement, racing is a powerfully visceral experience and graphics are important to the average gamer and motorsport fan alike.

The bar has been raised and iRacing has stepped up to challenge, adding more courses, adding more cars while constantly refining the physics. Sound and graphics too have been seeing work as the package has developed through it’s evolution.

Another challenge has been making the simulation approachable for all racing fans and getting an understanding across of what it’s all about and how it works. That’s where my videos come in, I’m going to bust open this package and get away from the myth that console gamers can’t easily cross over, I’m going to show you how iRacing works, what are the benefits, what are the costs and why it is growing as an essential tool for real drivers.
