ISI's been pretty tight-lipped over rFactor 2 for quite some time now, so it's pretty reassuring to find out their silence has been broken with a new IndyCar licencing announcement,
As part of the new deal, rFactor 2 will end up featuring the fabled Indianapolis Motor Speedway in full laser scanned glory, with the tracks on offer being the iconic 'oval and the infield road course.
On top of the circuits that can be found at "The Brickyard", a selection of IndyCars have also been licenced for use in the PC sim, with the confirmed car roster going as follows:
- Dallara DW12 (The sole chassis used in IndyCar racing since 2012)
- Reynard 95i (Jacques Villeneuve's Indy car for 1995. Won that year's Indy500 and Champ Car Championship)
- March 86C (Won the Indy 500 in 1986 and 1987, piloted by Bobby Rahal and Al Unser respectively)
- Eagle Mk 4 (derived from Formula One cars of that era, famously recorded a 1-2 finish at the 1968 Indy 500)
- Cooper-Climax T54 (despite limited success on the track, cited by many experts to have kick-started the rear-engine revolution" for Indy cars)
- Watson Roadster (one of the last great front-engined Indy cars. Like the Eagle Mk 4, finished 1-2 at the 1960 Indy 500)
In the meantime, though, here's an image ISI's released, showcasing just how far they've come with rendering "The Brickyard" so far…
