Game: Drive Club

Release Date: 07/10/2014

While DriveClub's biggest talking points have centered on the recently-added Japan location and the forthcoming Apex Expansion pack due to roll off the assembly line in tomorrow's PS Store update, there's something of a hidden gem arriving tomorrow alongside this content overload in the form of a free download: the rather angular-looking Icona Vulcano.

DriveClub is doing a decent job of accumulating obscure cars you rarely see in racing games – not even the encyclopedic car lists of Forza and Gran Turismo can claim to have the Vulcano, as this will mark its official game debut.

First introduced at the Shanghai International Motor Show in 2013, the Vulcano is the work of former Ferrari director Claudio Lombardi and French designer Samuel Chuffart, a hybrid hypercar with a volcanic V12 engine that delivers 950 hp, a 0 – 60 time of just 2.9 seconds and a blistering top speed of 217 mph.

Technically, this is the East Asian car to feature in DriveClub, just as the W Motors Lykan Hypersport was the first Middle Eastern car available to drive. But seeing as the real thing costs a measley $3.8 million dollars, DriveClub is probably the closest you're going to get to taming this beast. You can see it in action in the official gameplay video released by Evolution.

Meanwhile, the Apex expansion rolls out tomorrow, adding the Caterham R500 Superlight, Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Centennial Edition, McLaren 650S Coupe, Jaguar C-X75 Prototype Edition and the exquisite Enzo Ferrari, along with the Sakura Tour Pack, Apex Livery Pack and Sakura Livery Pack sold separately.
