Polyphony, developers of the long-running Gran Turismo series, have released new sales figures through their official website which reveal how many copies each version of Gran Turismo has sold to date.
The figures make for some interesting reading, Gran Turismo 6 for instance has now sold an impressive 4.7 million copies despite being released so late in the PlayStation 3's life cycle. It still of course very much remains in the shadow of Gran Turismo 5 which has now sold close to 12 million copies.
Perhaps even more surprising is the fact that Gran Turismo 6 was actually out sold by the bite-size Gran Turismo 5 “Prologue” by some 640,000 copies, an extremely impressive result considering Gran Turismo 4 “Prologue” failed to reach 1.5 million sales. The most popular Gran Turismo game to date is Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec on the PlayStation 2 which has sold close to 15 million copies.
When you look through all of the sales figures (listed below) you can see that the first game on each of the three PlayStation consoles out sells the second. This trend will no doubt carry over to the PlayStation 4 platform too (assuming Polyphony can release two full Gran Turismo titles within the life span of the PlayStation 4 console).
You can view the full list of Gran Turismo sales below which are calculated up to September of this year. Let us know in the comments which of these titles is your favourite.
