We get to grips with GRIP, a fast-paced rollcage-esque styled arcade racer by Caged Element that released on Steam's Early Access programme last month.

GRIP ran very well on our set up with no signs of slow down despite the fast-paced action. However the action itself we found to be very stop-start, for example you can be racing along at a rapid pace one moment and the next you'd be hit with a projectile which throws your vehicle around and you often come to a complete standstill.

We feel GRIP would've been more fun had the weapons actually slowed you down rather than make you come to an abrupt stop which really affected the game's flow which is so important in these fast-paced arcade racers. The same can also be said with some of the title's environmental obstacles which can grind you to a halt as well.

We also found that, somewhat ironically, the vehicles had a general lack of grip. Overall then we enjoyed GRIP but felt there were some areas which needed some attention, for our full video impressions on GRIP check out the video below.
