Codemasters continue their DLC spree for Grid 2 following the Drift Pack released a couple of weeks ago with this latest installment: the Peak Performance Pack.

As the name implies, six souped up machines are yours for the taking, each customised with unique paint jobs, body modifications and tuning upgrades to compete in tier 2 competitions as opposed to the stock vehicles in

The Peak Performance pack is available now for Xbox 360 and PC, with a release scheduled tomorrow on PS3. An asking price of £3.19 / $4.99 / €3.99 / 400 MS Points will nab you the following cars:

  • Dodge Charger RT – Stiffer suspension, wider wheels and aggressive camber improve traction whilst additional power under the bonnet, an extra gear and stripped out weight improve top speed and acceleration
  • Ford Mustang Mach 1 Twister Special  – Improved aerodynamics reduce drag, bigger brakes reducing braking distances and engine improvements increase acceleration and top speed
  • Chevrolet Camaro Z28 RS SS 1970 – A re-mapped engine adds more horsepower and torque, reduced mass and inertias give the car more responsive steering and a lower centre of mass and stiffer suspension improves traction and reduces body roll
  • VW Golf R – An engine upgrade boosts acceleration and top speed, a lower roll centre and lower centre of gravity improves traction and its revised differential setup minimises understeer
  • BMW E30 M3 – Comes equipped with a racing clutch to reduce shift times whilst it’s re-mapped engine and stripped out weight improves top speed and acceleration

But wait, they all sound familiar right?

That's because none of the content on offer is technically new –  they're all hot versions of cars already featured in the core game, which of course would be completely redundant if you could actually tune cars in-game. Alas, you can't, and Codemasters are clearly capitalising on this, sadly.

All-in-all, a disappointing DLC pack compared to the past few which at least offered some new car models and followed a theme. Hopefully future DLC packs will stray away from recycled car content and focus on adding some new tracks which were glaringly abscent from Grid 2.
