Gran Turismo 6 has sold just a fifth of the units sold in the first week for GT5 in the UK, according to Eurogamer.
GT6 rolled in at number eight in the UK all-formats sales chart and number three in the UK individual formats chart selling just 55,000 copies, despite being the only major release that week.
A pretty disappointing performance for what was supposed to be the PS3's last major first party release from Polyphony's point of view, but there's still time for it to gain momentum in the run-up to Christmas.
Of course, this only provides more fuel to the argument that GT6 would have had more impact if it was released for the next-gen PS4 instead of the flagging PS3. In theory, though, it made more business sense to release GT6 on the established platform – the PS3 has a massive user base compared to the freshly-launched PS4.
Still, if Kazonauri's musings are to be believed we could be seeing GT7 on PS4 in the not too distant future – i.e. as early as next year.
