News Forza Motorsport 6 will be pulled from the Xbox Store on 15th September

Forza Motorsport 6‘s days on the Xbox Store are numbered, as the title will be taken off from the digital storefront in just over five weeks’ time.

Following in the footsteps of Forza titles that have come before, Forza Motorsport 6 will reach what developer Turn 10 Studios refers to as “End of Life Status” on 15th September later this year. Once that date has passed, the racing game and all of its associated DLC will be permanently removed from the Xbox Store marketplace.

While it will be impossible to buy Forza Motorsport 6 digitally after that point, Turn 10 Studios says you’ll be able to keep on playing the game after that date. Anyone who purchases a digital version of the game will also be able to redownload and reinstall the game after 15th September, with the same applying to the game’s DLC.

For one final hurrah before the title is removed from sale for good, Forza Motorsport 6 will be available for all Xbox Live Gold subscribers to download for free between 16th August and 15th September. All of Forza Motorsport 6’s premium downloadable content will be available at a discounted rate for Xbox Live Gold subscribers during this time, too.

Forza Motorsport 6 was originally launched in September 2015, having been announced in January that year alongside its box art cover car, the Ford GT supercar, at the Detroit Auto Show. As well as having the distinction of introducing new-to-Forza features, such as wet weather racing and ‘League’ online lobbies that aimed to bring players of more comparable skill levels together in multiplayer races, it also has the in-hindsight distinction of being the last Forza game to be released exclusively for an Xbox games console.
