Game: Forza Horizon

Platform: XB360, XBox One

Publisher: Microsoft Studios

Release Date: 23/10/2012

The first Forza Horizon game will soon be playable on the Xbox One, via the console's Backwards Compatability programme.

First released on the Xbox 360 in October 2012, the inaugural entry in the Forza Horizon franchise will be available to the Xbox One from 1st September 2016.

As a result, 2016 will mark the first time every iteration of the Forza Horizon series (not including the Xbox One ports of Forza Horizon 2 and its Fast & Furious spin-off) will be playable on the same platform.

Those who have bought Forza Horizon digitally will be able to re-download the game onto their Xbox One for free. Players who own a physical copy of the title will also be able to install the title for free, though will have to insert the disc into the Xbox One's disc drive in order to download the digital version of Forza Horizon.

The original Forza Horizon (along with its Rally Expansion DLC) were rated highly by Team VVV upon their release in 2012 and 2013 respectively. Though we did bemoan the reduction in audio-visual fidelity when compared to the Motorsport entries and some unusual design decisions, our overall verdict for Forza Horizon was that it took the essence that made the Forza Motorsport games so enjoyable to play and distilling it in an accessible open-world setting.
