Game: Forza Horizon

Platform: XB360, XBox One

Publisher: Microsoft Studios

Release Date: 23/10/2012

We already knew that Forza Horizon looks absolutely spellbinding in motion from the official E3 trailer, but thanks to a video sent in by a viewer from the E3 showfloor we can ascertain how the game looks when you actually play it.

The video is not a direct feed, but it's still abundantly clear that Forza Horizon is a tasty looker indeed, with the scale of the environment continuing to impress. Its sweeping roads show an impressive level of detail, particularly with the draw distance.

We also geta brief glimpse of the all-important in-car cockpit view, a feature we're very glad to see return from Forza Motorsport, particularly when previous spin-off games such as DiRT Showdown omitted it.

Most importantly, despite our pre-E3 fears that the Xbox 360 hardware would surely struggle to cope with such a vast open environment coupled with Forza's demanding physics and graphics engine, the early footage shows a smooth and steady frame rate. Granted, it's been locked down to 30 FPS, but such a sacrfice was clearly necessary to maintain a smooth performance, which is vital for portraying the sense of speed in a racing game.
