Release Date: 30/09/2014

By now, you'll have probably trawled through the recently-unveiled car list for Forza Horizon 2. Featuring over 200 cars, it's a quintessentially Forza collection brimming with variety; a broad mix of manufacturers from all continents and some new car debuts for good measure.

Of course, it's no secret that this won't be the final list – as with all Forza games, the car list will be expanded for months after launch with a raft of future DLC installments.

The inaugural pack has been announced as the Forza Horizon 2 Launch Bonus Car Pack, which will add eight more cars to the roster. But before you start to grumble about being charged for additional content post-launch, it will be available to download for free on October 3rd to coincide with the launch of Forza Horizon 2.

Those who are dismayed at seeing recycled car content in these packs will also be pleased to hear that, of the eight cars, three will be completely new to the Forza franchise: 2003 Ford Focus RS, the 1997 Land Rover Defender 90, and the 1993 Clio Williams.

Here's the full list of cars that will feature in the Launch Bonus Car Pack:

  • ·         2003 Ford Focus RS
  • ·         1997 Land Rover Defender 90
  • ·         1993 Clio Williams
  • ·         2015 Ford Mustang GT
  • ·         1987 Buick Regal GNX
  • ·         2012 Cadillac Escalade ESV
  • ·         1968 Abarth 595 esseesse
  • ·        1956 Ford F-100

Details surrounding the Forza Horizon 2 VIP membership and Car Pass were also disclosed, which will work just as it did in Forza Motorsport 5.

The VIP pass can be purchased for £15.99, while existing Forza Motorsport 5 VIP members can get a 50% discount at £7.99. It will grant access to a number of benefits, including the VIP Car Pack, featuring five cars (four of which are brand new to the Forza franchise). VIP membership also awards with 2x player in-game reward acceleration, access to exclusive multiplayer events, in-game gifts from the Forza community team, and special in-game recognition.

Meanwhile, purchasing the Car Pass for £19.99 will give you the keys to six monthly car packs, each containing five cars, along with a bonus 2010 Noble M600 for free. So that's at least 31 extra cars to look forward to over the next six months.

But perhaps the best news of the day is that you don't have to wait until release to be let loose on the serene Southern French roads in Forza Horizon 2. A playable demo has been released on Xbox Live as of today, inviting players to take the fiesty Lamborghini Huracan for a test drive.
