Not long after we witnessed the first official gameplay footage of Klyotonn Games' WRC 5, a new work-in-progress trailer and screenshots have been released showcasing the Ford Fiesta RS WRC being put through its paces across a variety of previously unseen locations and terrain.
Three staple WRC rally locations are shown: Finland, Sweeden and Italy, each offering unique driving conditions including rain, mud and snow.
“With these new trailer & screenshots, we want to show different locations and challenges that are waiting for players” says Alain Jarniou, WRC 5 Game Director. “From the frozen roads and snow banks of Sweden, to the narrow and sandy lines of Sardinia, or even the fast technical sections of Finland, we really want to put players into real drivers’ gloves. That’s why we worked hard to recreate the special atmosphere at each of the 13 rallies that makes the WRC so diverse” declares Alain Jarniou.
Rally purists will no doubt be pleased to see some of the stages look authentically narrow compared to our first look at WRC 5, with the exception of the tarmac track shown in the trailer which still looks too wide to present much challenge.
Also, did anyone else notice the use of the melodramatic Mad Max: Fury Road music in the trailer? Hearing the bombastic score playing to anything other than apocalyptic carnage seems wrong somehow.
WRC 5 will be powersliding onto Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, Playstation 3, PlayStation Vita and PC this October.
