News First look at Assetto Corsa

Start your engines, PC sim racers: after several agaonising delays, the long-awaited Assetto Corsa is finally here in the form of a playable beta available to purchase on Steam Early Access. 

While the beta is merely the bare shell of the game as developer Kunos Simulazioni continue to add additional car and track content, game modes and improvements, we couldn't wait any longer and dived straight into our first test drive courtesy of Alan's new gaming rig. 

Our first video sees Alan taking the Formula Abarth racecar for a spin on the old Monza circuit, and his first impressions certainly indicate that Assetto Corsa is living up to its promise as the PC's answer to console racing simulation games, with its detailed visuals (not just on the cars, but also the environments – just look at that foilage), superb sense of speed and intuitive handling model, thanks to Kunos Simulazioni's advanced tyre physics that are often regarded as the most realistic on the market as seen in their previous game netKar Pro.

This is just the start of our PC racing game coverage, so you can expect to see more from Assetto Corsa and a host of other PC-only racing games over the next few weeks and months.
