Officially titled 'FA Racing G2 Logitech G', this new venture – with Fernando Alonso involved as the team principal – will be positioned as an elite esports team "that all sim racing enthusiasts will aspire" to be a part of.
Details on when FA Racing G2 will be ready to compete in esports championships have yet to be disclosed, though it has been confirmed the 2017 F1 Esports Series finalist Cem Bolukbasi has been signed as the team's first e-driver.
It was also confirmed that FA Racing G2 will participate in "all current competitions", on top of having a presence "across a variety of games, console and PC platforms".
As well as being the first esports venture to be associated with an active Formula One driver, FA Racing G2 has the added advantage of being managed by the highly succesful G2 Esports outfit. G2 Esports' most recent sim racing success came about via the World's Fastest Gamer competition, which was won by G2 Esports e-driver Rudy ban Buren.
More details on FA Racing G2's esports activities and upcoming e-driver signings are expected to be disclosed in the coming months.
