In recent years games and simulations have often granted the first opportunity of seeing and driving on a new F1 circuit. Sotchi was a perfect example where gamers had a fresh circuit, never seen, no established racing lines, this giving an opportunity to learn and discover the speed without external influence, Hanoi is a similar example.

On the video below we’ve shown our initial laps learning the basics of the circuit rather than pounding round and perfecting (we’ll leave that to the Esport players with the time to spare). The circuit is technical, with long high speed straights followed by heavy braking, which is perfect for overtaking.

Other sectors are twisty and flowing making tyre conservation essential for lap times and dirty air making it tricky to follow. A few long corners with double apexes are an interesting challenge and may have multiple lines depending on tyre wear, it will be interesting to see how the surface yields grip and on various weather conditions.

So, an interesting street circuit, as with a Formula E layout it does lack some soul. If we didn’t know where the circuit was based, we couldn’t tell you as it appears to lack any significant landmarks. In many ways it reminds us of Valencia, a track that was equally dull in terms of venue but provided some interesting racing, at some points.

Either way, new circuits always add and make a helpful addition to the package along with Zandvoort. Hopefully, we will see these raced in real life at some point but in the meantime this is a great opportunity to discover the circuit and see how Esports races eventually compare to the real thing. More images of the circuit in action below. F1 2020 will release July 10 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and  Stadia.
