If like me you're a sucker for swanky steelbook collectibles, then this is for you: F1 2015 is the latest game to get the collectable steelbook treatment, and it's being sold only at GAME.

Retailing for £54.99, the F1 2015 Steelbook Edition is packaged in a classy metal case and comes bundled with a 'Race Like a Champion' guidebook filled with hints and tips and a 2015 circuit guide.

While the design is perhaps a bit on the bland side, I prefer its minimalist look compared to the overcrowded Fifa-inspired cover gracing the standard version featuring some of the top drivers staring vacantly into your soul. It's certainly a contrast to previous F1 game artwork where the focus was primarily on the teams, but it reflects the change in direction F1 2015 is heading with driver likenesses and a career which lets you race as the actual drivers for the first time instead of playing as yourself. Seriously though: Daniel Ricciardo not smiling in the photo just looks plain wrong. Have we entered a parallel universe? In fact, all of the driver's super-serious expressions look like they belong in a passport.

Steelbooks aren't very common in video game releases, but they're often highly sought after by avid film collectors. Some may pass them off as gratuitous pretty packaging, but if done right they can make owning your favourite film or game that bit more special, particularly when they're packaged with tasteful artwork.

Interestingly, the racing genre seems to have the most steelbooks available out of every genre this generation: DriveClub was released in a stylish ShopTo-exclusive steelbook, while Project CARS will also be available in Steelbook form as part of a GAME-only Limited Edition.
