It's that time again, as the E3 Expo draws closer and snippets of information of the many games due to be shown begin to leak through, building ever more anticipation.

For the next official F1 title, this is the first showing we've ever had of the actual game, with a glimpse of the new Austin Grand Prix Circuit which makes its return to the F1 season after a 5 year hiatus.

Affectionately titled the Circuit of the Americas it represents a new push for Formula 1 within the US. It's important for the teams as F1 has never fared very well in the US due to a whole range of reasons – indeed, the Austin circuit almost never happened. Now with construction well underway on a bespoke modern design specifically for F1 and the unpredictable Pirelli tyres making for a thrilling season, there will never be a better time to break new ground.

At this early stage the game is looking very promising indeed. Car models are very defined, showcasing Codemasters' exceptional eye for detail, particularly on the front wings which look noticably more intricate. So far so good, then, and there's still lots of new features planned that we're eager to learn more about such as the young driver modes, besides general improvements to the handling, physics and AI.

The Austin circuit will be playable for the first time at E3 next week. More news when we have it, including gameplay videos to follow.
