Those who are eager to take Codemasters' F1 2012 for a test drive will be pleased to know that you'll be able to just that this week, as the previously confirmed playable demo will be available for all to judge this week.
The good news? If you're an Xbox Live user, you can download it right now and play until your heart's content. For everyone else, you'll either have to wait until tomorrow on September 11th when the demo is available for PC worldwide and PS3 in America and September 12th in Europe. We know, life is tough.
The demo will let you sample the first race of the new Young Drivers Test, which is based on the real-life event held at Abu Dhabi, which, as we know, acts as F1 2012's tutorial mode allowing you to gain a feel for the car in a series of test and videos. A race from Season Challenge, F1 2012's new mode that condenses a championship into ten races, will then follow, pitting you against a chosen rival in a 5 lap race in Monza.
To mark the occasion, Codemasters have also released a new slick gameplay trailer which recreates several standout moments from what has been a memorable year for the sport, in which the first seven races resulted in seven different winners.
Considering that some people will understandably be reluctant to invest in what many perceive to be an incremental annual update, releasing a demo so that potential buyers can make an informed decision was a wise move.
Mercifully, the wait is nearly over as F1 2012 races into retail September 21st.
