It's fair to say that Evolution's recent batch of teasingly short DriveClub gameplay videos left us wanting more. It's clear that the game has made significant strides since we last saw it, and this was all set to culiminate in a video of the latest build showing the first full grid race in DriveClub, which was scheduled to follow soon after.
Unfortunately it hasn't materialised yet, but another new video has arisen to compensate, courtesy of BMW.
It may not be a direct gameplay video this time, but it does showcase a brand new car in DriveClub – literally. Welcome to the BMW M235i, the first ever BMW 2 series coupé announced only last week, which makes its video game debut in DriveClub. It's rare for a game outside of Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport to have a fully modelled in-game car coincide with its real world announcement, which shows how closely Sony and Evolution have been working with the manufacturers.
The M235i was first revealed last week as a replacement for BMW's 1 series, boasting a 3.0L six cylinder engine delivering 322bhp capable of achieving 0-60mph in 4.4sec and a top speed of 155 mph.
As for the trailer, it's once again a reminder of DriveClub's incredibly realistic graphics – squint, and we dare to tell publicity photos of the M235i and its digital DriveClub incarnation apart. It looks ridiculously real.
I do have just one gripe, though: like the AMG trailer before it, whoever edited the DriveClub trailer clearly has a penchant for techno music, when all we want to hear is the raw engine sounds…
