505 Games has today confirmed the long-awaited drifting racing simulation game DRIFT21 will launch on the Steam Early Access program on May 7, 2020.

If the name sounds somewhat familiar its because we first reported on the title (back then known as DRIFT 19) at the tail end of 2018. Billed as “the world’s first realistic drift driver simulator“, DRIFT21 puts you behind the wheel of your very own drift machine as you take on Japan’s legendary Ebisu circuits.

Take a look at the newly released trailer below.

DRIFT21 gives the player the choice of a range of fully licensed cars which can be fine-tuned down to the smallest engine parts to gain every possible advantage when racing. The title aims for realism by using 3D scanning techniques to recreate real drift tracks from around the world.

During the Early Access launch, the team at ECC Games will constantly update DRIFT21 adding new features such as new tracks, cars, game modes (including multiplayer) and “refining key features based on feedback and suggestions from the community”.

At launch DRIFT21 will offer:

  • Car tuning garage, over 750 parts and extensive paint shop mode.
  • A practice mode that allows you to practice your drifting skills.
  • More than 20 challenges in various game modes.

DRIFT21 will be available to purchase on the Steam Early Access program from May 7 for a price point of $24.99/£22.49/€24.99.
