Eager fans can get an early taste of Codemasters' upcoming DiRT Showdown with the launch of a playable demo available now for Steam, XBLA and PSN.
You'll get to sample the chaotic 8 Ball mode, a full-contact race set on a perilous figure of eight track set in San Francisco. The twist of course is that, being a figure of eight track, you have to contend with the crossover, inviting plenty of bone-shuddering, multi-car crashes. Don't forget we covered this mode extensively in our exclusive video hands-on.
As a bonus, if you challenge a friend players are then able to participate in an online multiplayer Rampage match, which is your traditional demolition derby mode that harkens back to the classic Destruction Derby games of the past. Again, you can check out our video hands-on with DiRT Showdown's take on Destruction Derby over on our YouTube Channel.
The demo also acts as an introduction to Racenet, Codemasters' new online service now available in beta form that allows you to track races, rivals and rewards which sounds rather akin to Need for Speed's Autolog.

DiRT Showdown is set to crash into UK storefronts May 25th.
