Game: DiRT 4

Platform: PC, PS4, XBox One

Publisher: Codemasters

Release Date: 2019 (MacOS and Linux)

DiRT 4 aims to improve upon DiRT Rally‘s paltry multiplayer offerings by including player vs player (PvP) rally and landrush modes alongside PvP rallycross as found in DiRT Rally previously. However unlike Sebastien Loeb Rally EVO and other rally racers before it, DiRT 4’s PvP rally will not feature live “player ghosts”.

Codemasters’ Paul Coleman assures us that you will indeed race at the same time (so sadly there’s no staggered starts) as others but you are unable to see their cars. This will no doubt disappoint some fans, however personally, I found seeing car ghosts very off-putting so perhaps it’s not such a great loss.

Players looking to get in on DiRT 4’s multiplayer action will first meet in 8-player lobbies (for all disciplines) which also includes some handy spectator slots. You’ll also have the option to save event formats so that you can have quicker turnarounds of events when hosting which is a welcome feature.

Let us know in the comments if not having PvP car ghosts affects you or whether you couldn’t care less.
