The announcement of DiRT 4 brought with it a number of questions, is the title going to return to its bombastic roots or will the fourth iteration lean more towards the serious business of DiRT Rally?
Codemasters Chief Game Designer Paul Coleman recently took to reddit to conduct a question and answer session with fans and confirmed that DiRT 4 will take a more subdued approach compared to earlier titles. Coleman states “The game will feel more professional in feel and we are not planning on having a Dudebro vibe”
This news will no doubt please many fans who grew tired of the “extreme” presentation of earlier DiRT titles featuring the likes of Ken Block. This news ties in nicely with the revelation that DiRT 4’s handling mode will be closer to the real deal that DiRT Rally.
It seems as though the DiRT franchise is maturing and evolving in to a more serious series. Fear not though, the game also features a “gamer” handling mode (among three others) which enables newcomers to enjoy the game without the need to tear out any hair.
DiRT 4 is scheduled to release on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms on June 9.
