Unfortunately Codemasters Chief Designer Paul Coleman has confirmed that DiRT 4 will not support VR at launch however the development team have certainly not ruled out the possibility in a future update.
Coleman recently spoke to Redbull, and when asked about whether VR was a consideration during DiRT 4’s development responded: “it’s something that we will be looking at once we’ve seen people’s reaction to DiRT Rally on PSVR.”
Coleman was also asked about potential VR support by Eurogamer and responded: “We’ve just finished PSVR Dirt Rally and we’ll see how that works, I see no reason why we shouldn’t support it in the future.”
So there we have it, Codemasters are waiting to see the response to the DiRT Rally PSVR update to see whether or not it will be worth spending resources on VR implementation for DiRT 4.
Of course they won’t have to wait long for the community response as the PSVR update for DiRT Rally is due out in the coming weeks. The add-on DLC is expected to cost £9.99.
