The upcoming rally title Dakar 18 has been announced, ahead of its official release at some point in 2018.
Developed by Bigmoon Studios and set to be published by Deep Silver, Dakar 18 will be released later this year on the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.
Based on the currently-active 2018 running of the Dakar Rally, Dakar 18 will include “the major manufacturer teams, vehicles and pilots” from this year’s rally raid.
The choice of words does heavily suggest Dakar 18 won’t feature the hundreds of entrants for the 2018 Dakar Rally. However, Bigmoon Studios does state all five classes in the Dakar Rally (Cars, Bikes, Trucks, Quads and SxS) will be represented in the game.
Bigmoon Studios also promises Dakar 18 will feature “stunning visuals” and “one of the biggest open worlds ever made in a racing simulation”.
Little is known about Dakar 18’s game modes, other than that it will contain singleplayer features as well as online and offline multiplayer. More information on the game will be revealed closer to the game’s official release later this year.
The Dakar Rally is a rally raid endurance race that’s regarded as one of the most arduous and demanding events on the motorsports calendar. Running for the 40th time in 2018, this year’s edition is also the 10th Dakar Rally to participate in South America since the series’ relocation from Europe and Africa in 2009.
