Psyonix have announced today that Rocket League will soon be receiving a hefty free update which enables players to create their own custom matches by changing a wealth of preset and custom settings.

What does this exactly mean? Well you can opt to play with a larger ball with a bigger bounce for instance or perhaps you'd prefer a cube “ball” instead? You can also alter the ball's maximum speed with different weight settings on offer. Gravity can be changed too and it appears there may well be a multi-ball mode which could be pretty hectic I would imagine. Other settings include increasing your boost, altering match length and scoring and there's also slow-mo and lots more besides. Check out the trailer below for more.

I'm a massive fan of Rocket League and I was very much looking forward to the upcoming non-standard shaped maps but this new mutator, set to arrive in just a few weeks, really launches Rocket League into the stratosphere in terms of new and interesting content.

If the mutators weren't exciting enough, Rocket League will also be getting a new ice hockey themed map coming in December. Players can been seen punting a puck back and forth (towards the end of the trailer above) which should provide an interesting departure from the usual ball.

Let us know what you make of the new content and which features you are particularly looking forward to trying in the comments.
