Two co-founders of Criterion Games who brought us the arcade racing series Burnout have announced that they are currently busy working on a spiritual successor to the much-loved series.
The two former members of Criterion Games, Alex Ward and Fiona Sperry, left the team last year to form a new studio that goes by the name of Three Fields. The new studio will be working on two games, one of which is described as a driving game:
Two things. Our first game is a multiplayer sports game. Coming Spring 2016. Then we make a driving game. RT and #ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster

What sort of driving game you ask? A spiritual successor. Speed. Traffic. And Crashing. Lots and lots of crashing. #ShinyRedSomething

It's obvious from the tweet above that Three Fields are referring to a Burnout type of game but which one? Three Fields dropped some further clues:
Spiritual successor to which one though??? The second, the third or the fourth one?? #decisions

A modern take on Burnout Paradise is ruled out then as that was the fifth installment in the series, and perhaps not surprisingly really as it would be a massive undertaking. Which Burnout title would you like to see Three Fields tackle: Burnout 2: Point of Impact, Burnout 3: Takedown or Burnout Revenge?
