Turns out Table Top Racing: World Tour wasn't the only racing game to have its release date revealed this week, as Milky Tea Studios has announced that their comedic kart racer Coffin Dodgers is coming to consoles next week, starting with PS4 on May 3rd and Xbox One May 6th.
Here's a premise for a racing game you don't read everyday: in Coffin Dodgers you play as one of seven retirement village residents, trading cars for pimped-up mobility scooters, armed with a variety of weapons and gadgets to defend against the grim reaper in a 3D open world. There's even Road Rash-style combat with ragdoll physics.
Coffin Dodgers plays out across a 13 race championship, with four distinct areas within the Sunny Pines Retirement Community. Each has its own distinct tournament where you rank to progress to the next stage. Finish last, and you'll be answering to the Grim Reaper, who also features in the final race face-off across all four areas.
Adding to Coffin Dodgers' vintage vibe is the welcome inclusion of split screen multiplayer for up to four players, which is sadly becoming a rarity in modern games favouring online multiplayer over traditional split screen.
Here's a breakdown of Coffin Dodgers' features:
Character ragdoll physics!
Select from 7 old, quirky but full of life retirement village residents.
Unlock and play as the Grim Reaper himself!
Battle your way through a Single-Player Story Mode with races and challenges set around the beautifully crafted Sunny Pines retirement village.
