Italian developer Kunos Simulazioni has today unearthed what they have been cooking up recently. And before you ask, no it’s not a sequel to Assetto Corsa. Instead, it’s more like a new spin-off.
Assetto Corsa Competizione is the name of the new title from Kunos, and it just happens to be the official game of the world-famous Blancpain GT Series. Kunos is aiming for a summer release on Steam Early Access, but it hasn’t confirmed if it’s coming to consoles yet, sadly. No doubt we’ll get confirmation either way soon.
Take a look at the announcement trailer below.
Assetto Corsa boasts incredibly realistic handling (winning our Best Handling award for 2017), which will enable players to experience the GT3 Series with a high level of authenticity. You can expect the official drivers, teams, cars, and circuits, all with the “highest level of accuracy and attention to detail”.
Assetto Corsa Competizione utilises Unreal Engine 4 technology and aims for the highest quality rendering with photorealistic weather conditions and improved graphics. The thought of playing Assetto Corsa in wet weather at night is a mouth-watering prospect, we think you’ll agree.
Players can get behind GT3 racing machines from household names such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, and McLaren among others. Kunos has used motion capture technology to create the animations of mechanics and drivers in an even more realistic fashion to really capture the essence of pit stops and driver changes.
Assetto Corsa Competizione will feature “advanced multiplayer functionality” complete with a ranking system that will evaluate individual performance and driving behaviour to “reward the most virtuous drivers and promote fair play in online competitions.” Sounds good to us.
We’ll have more on Assetto Corsa Competizione shortly.
