The second Formula 1 Esports Series competition will officially start on 13th April 2018.
Following on from the successful inaugural season from 2017, the new Formula 1 Esports Series will once again pit the fastest players of the F1 2017 game – with a prize fund of "at least $200,000" USD being up for grabs in the competition.
The 2018 running of the Formula 1 Esports Series also sees real-life Formula 1 teams participating in the esports championship for the first time. Every outfit bar Scuderia Ferrari will be represented in the 2018 Formula 1 Esports Series, with their driver line-ups consisting of at least one of the 40 eligible 'Pro Draft' drivers from the qualification rounds.
To qualify for the three-round 2018 Formula 1 Esports Series, entrants across the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms will need to participate in four qualification rounds, with the first commencing on 13th April.
Later on, the 10 fastest players from each round and each platform will then participate in one final qualification race. The top three finishers in this race will then proceed into the 'Pro Draft' pool of drivers (36 from the qualification races; four as Wild Card entrants) that the F1 teams will select their driver lineups from.
More details on the 2018 Formula 1 Esports Series schedule are expected to be made in the coming weeks and months, as the qualification rounds progress.
