The wait has been agony, but we’re now at the final countdown to the launch of Forza Motorsport 3. You’ve read our extensive coverage, you’ve seen our youtube videos and with more to come in the form of guides and ongoing activity, there’s lots to look forward to.

So, as we prepare and the factories get ready to start churning out the many copies, VVV Gamer took the opportunity to attend the UK launch party for Forza 3, attended by commentating legend Murry Walker and supported by Jodie Kidd.

It was all great fun and you can see it all via our videos below. We’ve also included the latest press release.

The FM3 Lambo arrive, revellers pour in.

Anyone who’s ever dreamed of getting behind the wheel of a high performance supercar is about to get one step closer to making that a reality, as Forza Motorsport 3 – the game that gives you the keys to the world’s high performance cars – launches on Xbox 360 on October 23.

Previewed in central London tonight, legendary voice of motor racing Murray Walker and the fashion world’s queen of speed Jodie Kidd, who will put the game through its paces with an exclusive demonstration at the press launch, Forza Motorsport 3 is set to raise the bar by which all racing games are measured.

With over 400 cars to choose from, a range of new tracks and the most cutting edge new graphics and physics engine of any driving game, Forza Motorsport 3 is set to provide the most high-octane, adrenalin pumping experience for anyone – whether you’re a professional racing driver or just someone who’s ever wondered what it would be like to drive a £300,000 Ferrari. Whilst previous Forza games have offered committed racing fans the most immersive and realistic motorsport simulation available, Forza Motorsport 3 builds on that by enabling more casual gamers the chance to get involved, by being easier to pick up and play than ever before.

As ever, hardened Forza racers can still switch off all the car assists to enjoy the most realistic and challenging experience possible, whilst new players can enjoy the benefits of automatic braking, traction control, ABS and other driver aids to make the cars easier to handle. This means anyone can pick up the controller and live the dream of driving the kind of exotic machines they’d only dreamed about. There is even a new ‘Gameplay Rewind’ function that enables players to go back if they make a mistake halfway through.

Alas, the lovely Natasha was not present other than her overalls, so we included a sneaky picture of her anyway, because we can.

The standard game will available from next Friday, October 23 for £49.99, rf the limited Collector’s Edition, for £54.99. It will also be available as part of the ‘Forza Motorsport 3 Super Elite Bundle’ for £249.00. This offers a copy of the game complete with the all-new 250GB Super Elite console, two controllers and an Xbox LIVE headset, to get new gamers up and running with the biggest and best motorsport gaming experience available on any console.

Commenting on the game, Jodie Kidd said: “It’s very impressive. As someone who’s passionate about driving and having been lucky enough to get behind the wheel of some of the world’s best cars myself, playing Forza 3 is the closest thing I’ve come to the real thing without it being the real thing! Everything from the detail of the graphics to the way the cars sound and handle is so realistic.”

Murray Walker added: “Having been involved in motor racing for over 50 years, I have to say that this is the most accurate and compelling representation of the sport I have ever seen in a game. The level of detail is quite astounding, and racing fans will recognise some of the most iconic cars and tracks in all their glory. I’ve no doubt that not only will it feed the passion of those whose love of racing flows through their veins, but also open up motorsport to a whole new audience who didn’t realise just how exciting and accessible the sport actually is.”
