Seems as if Milestone were influenced by DiRT 3's dominance and therefore felt the need to include some side games to balance the core rallying action and attract a wider audience.
Unlike DiRT, however, these challenges thankfully won't dominate the game and will represent a comparatively small portion of the career in favour of focusing on the core rallying experience. After all, the aim of WRC3 is to replicate the WRC championship as authentically as possible, which is where DiRT stumbled in recent years as it strayed away from its rugged rally roots to become the all-encompassing, Americanised off=road racing game it is today.
Still, at least these challenges should prevent the career from becoming too samey, acting as some light relief as you revisit stages, but it's an interesting change of direction for a series that prides itself on authenticity.
What do you think of these challenges in what is usually a straightforward time trial rally series? Should WRC3 embrace variety or stick to its roots? Let us know in the comments below, on our Facebook page or on our forum.
