TT Isle of Man: Ride on The Edge has been delayed

Martin Bigg On September 25, 2017

TT Isle of Man: Ride On The Edge is one of our most anticipated bike racing games in a long time. Currently, in development by French developer Kylotonn, which recently released WRC 7, we've been crying out for a developer to depict the notorious Snaefell Mountain Course for a long time - there hasn't been an official Isle of Man TT game since Jester Interactive had access to the license for the PS2 series of Isle of Man TT games.

TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge delayKylotonn's current-gen effort is looking promising, featuring a faithfully recreated version of the infamous 37.40 mile-long road circuit. Watching fearless bikers race down the winding narrow roads at death-defying speeds is always exhilarating, which should translate well into a racing game. Unfortunately, while the game was on track for a November release, Kylotonn has announced that TT Isle of Man: Ride On The Edge has been delayed until March 2018.

"We believe that the current game is not in line with our expectations, primarily: the gameplay and motorbike physics," the company said in a statement on Facebook. "Given how important this is to the game, and your experience, we do not want to disappoint you on this. "

"As you might have seen, TT Isle of Man was initially scheduled for November 2017, but we need a little more time. We have therefore decided to push the release date back to March 2018. This extra time will allow us to improve all aspects of the game."

Here's the full statement from Kylotonn:

As you know, we have been working on the TT Isle of Man game for quite some time now, and we’re very satisfied with what we’ve achieved on many points. We’ve made an almost perfect replica of the famous Snaefell Mountain Course and the in-game version provides just as many technical challenges as its real-world counterpart.

And, never has a video game displayed so many graphical details on such a long race track, and with such speed required to render those graphics.

Yet, after much discussion, we believe that the current game is not in line with our expectations, primarily: the gameplay and motorbike physics. Given how important this is to the game, and your experience, we do not want to disappoint you on this.

As you might have seen, TT Isle of Man was initially scheduled for November 2017, but we need a little more time. We have therefore decided to push the release date back to March 2018. This extra time will allow us to improve all aspects of the game.

Delaying the release of the game is not an easy decision to make but we really want to offer you an experience worthy of the legendary TT and we hope you understand!

While it's disappointing that we'll have to wait longer for the release of TT Isle of Man: Ride on The Edge, it's probably for the best if the end result is a more polished game that does the license justice. Releasing in November may have also harmed sales, as the next few months is looking very congested with the releases of several major racing titles like Forza Motorsport 7, Gran Turismo Sport, and Need for Speed Payback. Having said that, releasing the game in March will pit TT Isle of Man: RIde on the Edge directly against The Crew 2, and Milestone is also targeting an "early 2018" release for Gravel
