Sony is apparently cancelling GT Sport digital pre-orders

Kevin Dooley On September 5, 2016

Last week we learned that GT Sport's release date had been delayed to 2017 to give the developer Polyphony more time to “perfect” the game. This week it seems Sony are now cancelling the digital pre-orders for the FIA endorsed title.

Players who have pre-ordered GT Sport digitally through the PlayStation Store are now finding that their pre-orders have been canceled. Players are receiving a message from Sony which includes the following:

"On 30th August 2016 we regrettably announced that the release of Gran Turismo Sport has been delayed until 2017. We do not have a new release date at this time. We have, therefore, decided to cancel your pre-order and refund your pre-order payment.”

Once we have a new release date for Gran Turismo Sport we will offer a revised pre-order for it on the PlayStation®Store at the earliest opportunity. Thank you for your custom and please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

These messages will no doubt strike fear into the hearts of Gran Turismo fans everywhere as they suggest that the new release window for GT Sport could well be some considerable time away as cancelling pre-orders are certainly not common practice.

Polyphony have been well known for delaying the Gran Turismo titles over the years and right now it's anyone's guess as to when and possibly if we'll see GT Sport released.

We'll of course keep you up to date on all the GT Sport developments as soon as we possibly can.
