Redout: Space Assault dogfighting spin-off coming to PC during Q1 2019

James Allen On June 27, 2018

A space combat spin-off to the futuristic racing game Redout is due for release on PC sometime during the first quarter of 2019.

Developed by the Italian indie studio 34BigThings, Redout: Space Assault utilises a similar futuristic art style from the Redout racing game - with the Turin-based creators claiming the dogfighting title that combines "the trademark Redout adrenaline with the thrill of combat".

Befitting its name, Redout: Space Assault doesn't feature terrestrial game environments. Instead, all of Redout: Space Assault's modes will be based in interstellar locations - though it's unknown at time of writing how many locales the game will contain.

A sizeable portion of Redout: Space Assault is dedicated to what 34BigThings is referring to as an "extensive single-player campaign'. In the core campaign mode, players will able to "assault mighty Corvettes, escort Cargo ships, engage in furious 1on1 duels, infiltrate colossal Motherships and blow them up from within".

Competitive multiplayer will be present in Redout: Space Assault too, with 34BigThings claiming the mode's "tactical layer" will allow "more than one road to victory".

The wording in the statement alludes to the PvP mode being more focused on dogfighting. However, elements such as the ability to "take control of larger ships with superior firepower" suggest some mechanics from the singleplayer mode could also be featured in Redout: Space Assault's multuplayer.

Redout: Space Assault is due for release for PCs sometime during Q1 2019. More details on the game are expected to be disclosed by developer 34BigThings before the end of 2018.
