Slightly Mad Studios' Project CARS 2 promotional campaign is certainly in full swing with lots of reveals, screenshots and even some gameplay to salivate over.
The very latest reveal showcases four Mitsubishi Evolutions that will be available to drive when the game launches in “late 2017”.
The first of these “Evos” is very extreme, the Lancer Evo VI SVA holds the lap record for the UK time attack at a number of British tracks including Brands Hatch, Silverstone and Croft.
This is partly due to it's phenomenal power: we are talking over 1000bhp. With that much power the car needs some serious aero components so you can expect a huge rear wing along with various fins which give it a very aggressive look.
The Lancer Evolution VI Tommi Makinen Edition also makes it in with its titanium turbo which supposedly puts out 276bhp which is good for a 0-100 kmh time of just 4.5 seconds.
Gran Turismo veterans will remember this car with its striking custom paint job which compliments the Recaro bucket seats and Momo steering wheel: there's no doubt this version of the Evo VI is not playing games.
The third Evo confirmed for Project CARS 2 is the Lancer Evolution IX FQ-360. We all know what the FQ stands for (we wont go there), while the “360” denotes its power making it an incredibly powerful Evo. Indeed its 0-62mph time clocks in at under the four-second mark which will leave most production cars in its dust.
Many saw the Evo IX as a mainstream Evolution which gained weight, added a few creature comforts and somewhat lost its identity. To rectify this, Mitsubishi released the most powerful Evolution in history: the Lancer Evo X FQ400.
The FQ400 took many cues from the Evo VI with lower ride height, a 6-speed manual instead of the paddle shifters and various other pieces. The FQ400 ticked off 62 mph in just 3.8 seconds and was electronically limited to 155 mph at the top end.
You can expect to get to grips with the The Lancer Evo VI SVA, Lancer Evo X FQ400, the Tommi Mäkinen Edition Evo VI, and the FQ-360 GSR when Project CARS releases for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in “late 2017”.
