Megacom Games have released new gameplay footage of their upcoming 80's retro sci-fi racer Power Drive 2000.

The footage shows pre-alpha gameplay of a time trial at the 'Vector Valley' course to the backdrop of some 80's music, naturally. The game is a true feast for the eyes, the neon lights and the glow of the brake lights and exhausts is mesmerising, it all comes together to look very cool indeed. Check out the gameplay below.

As you can tell from the gameplay, Power Drive 2000 has two main focuses: drifting and boosting. You need to drift around tight bends in order to charge your turbo meter for an extra speed boost. Power Drive 2000 will offer six game modes, most of which are said to support online and local split screen multiplayer.

Power Drive 2000's Kickstarter campaign is ongoing with over $13,000 CAD raised of its $45,000 goal with 11 days remaining. It has also recently been 'greenlit' on Steam's greenlight programme. Watching the gameplay above has left me wanting more, I don't believe I've seen a racing game that looks so cool. As ever we'll keep you up to date on all the latest so stay tuned.
