After Sony pulled the plug on Gran Turismo 6's servers last month, two more PS3 racing titles are having their online services shut down. As of July, you'll no longer be able to play ModNation Racers or LittleBigPlanet Karting online. The servers for ModNation Racers will be closed on July 10, while LittleBigPlanet Karting will no longer be playable online as of July 2nd.

Released back in 2010, ModNation Racers was an innovative kart racer developed by United Front Games, which was closed in 2016, and released exclusively for the PS3. It took inspiration from LittleBigPlanet, allowing players to play, create and share their own tracks, and is regarded as one of the better Mario Kart clones to come out of the last generation. There is a single player story mode with pre-made tracks, but online was definitely the main focus of the game. Without it, the game will undoubtedly lose a lot of its appeal.

Sadly, ModNation Racers didn't sell very well since it was released close to Blur and Split/Second at the time, resulting in the close of all three studios. According to VGChartz, the game sold a total of 1.13 copies worldwide, which is pretty poor for a first party-published title. It isn't clear, however, if the online servers for the Vita version of the game, ModNation Racers Road Trip, are also being shut down.

LittleBigPlanet Karting followed in 2012. It was also developed by United Front Games, but despite having the advantage of being attached to the popular LittleBigPlanet IP, it also struggled to gain sales traction. In fact, it sold even fewer copies than ModNation Racers according to VGChartz with 0.88 million copies sold worldwide, making it the worst-selling entry in the LittleBigPlanet series.
