There's not long to wait now until Mario Kart Super Circuit skids its way over to the Wii U Virtual Console in EU regions. Nintendo confirmed, via a tweet, that the game will be available tomorrow. Europeans have had to wait patiently for the karting racer which released all the way back in November, last year, in the U.S.

Mario Kart: Super Circuit was developed by Intelligent Systems and was originally released for the Game Boy Advance in 2001. It was the very first handheld version of the long-running karting-based racer and received amazing reception by critics and fans alike. As you can see by the gameplay video below it bares more than a resemblance to the original SNES classic from 1992 (one of my favourite games ever).

This racer has eight playable characters which are divided into three weight classes: light, medium and heavy. As expected the main meat of the game resides in the Grand Prix mode, here you'll have access to five cups, each with four races apiece. Strangely, Mario Kart Super Circuit is the only game is the series not to introduce new power-ups.

This isn't the first re-release of the game however, Mario Kart Super Circuit was re-released on the 3DS virtual console platform in 2011. The karting racer has sold close to six million copies worldwide to date. To experience the game on the Wii U Virtual Console it will set you back £6.29/€6.99.
