It's official: Burnout Paradise Remastered coming in March with 4K and 60fps support

Martin Bigg On February 20, 2018

Well, well, well, the rumours were right. EA has officially announced that Burnout Paradise Remastered is coming to PS4 and Xbox One on March 16th. Releasing ten years after the original game crashed onto PS3 and Xbox 360, EA is billing the remaster as "the definitive Burnout Paradise experience."

While the original game was of course developed by Criterion Games, Burnout Paradise Remastered has been given a fresh coat of paint by Guilford-based studio Stellar Games. Textures have been improved with higher resolutions, and the remaster also supports 4K and 60fps on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. A PC version will be released later this year.

In addition, all eight DLC packs released for the original game will feature in Burnout Paradise Remastered, including the Big Surf Island expansion, along with the Cops and Robbers, Legendary Cars, Burnout Bikes, Burnout Paradise Toys, Burnout Paradise Party, Boost Specials, and Cagney updates. This also means PC players will be able to explore Big Surf Island for the first time.

“When people think of Criterion Games, they often remember the Burnout franchise and for good reason. What we created 10 years ago, is as fun and unique today as it was back then,” said Matt Webster, General Manager at Criterion Games.

“Burnout Paradise is an open world arcade racer built to provide players the thrill of racing with their friends, in a free form way that’s both seamless and immersive. Featuring Criterion’s trademark speed and destruction with awesome stunts and spectacular crashes. With the release of this remaster, we’re able to share this action-packed ride and innovate online vehicle play with a whole new generation of players.”

At the time, Burnout Paradise was praised for shifting series into an expansive open-world environment filled with crazy stunts, seamless online multiplayer, and exceptional damage modelling, which still impresses ten years on.

Burnout Paradise Remastered will be available both digitally and physically, with a retail price of £34.99. Are you looking forward to returning to Paradise City?
