It's been a long time coming, but the details of the much anticipated Rally Expansion Pack for Forza Horizon are finally here.

And it seems that, on first impressions at least, the wait was certainly worth it.

As part of the Pack, a whole host of different, new features to the game (and, in some instances, the entire Forza series) are featured, which claim to noticeably change the game.

The big news, of course, is the inclusion of several new point-to-point events (as we reported on a short while ago, there are more rally routes on offer in the Expansion Pack than there are in all of Dirt 3), and new additions such as vegetation on the stage surfaces and an upgraded physics properties suggest the off-roading in the Rally Expansion will be more engaging than they in the standard game.

The changes, though, go far further than that. Die-hard fanatics of authentic rallying being interpreted in video games will be happy to know that a co-driver who utters navigational instructions is featured, and you can add upgrades (which will also be available to everything else in your garage, providing you acquired the Expansion Pack) that'll make your cars more suited to triumphing over tricky terrain.

Speaking of the cars, five new vehicles will be included in the Pack (though, perhaps to the displeasure of those who bought previous Forza titles, a few have featured in the Motorsports franchise). The cars in question are as follows:

•Toyota Celica GT-Four RC ST185

•Subaru Impreza WRX STi (the third generation one, for those who aren't experts on the Scooby family tree)

•Lancia 037 Stradale

As perks for those who bought the Forza Horizon Season Pass, not only does it come as part of the Pass, but an exclusive car in the form of the Ford Focus SVT.

And, as expected from a feature of a Forza game, appropriately themed Rivals Mode events will be featured, with two events being added every month.

If you're not a Season Pass owner and would like to have a go at Horizon's Rally Championship, it'll be available from the Xbox Live Marketplace from December 18th for 1,600 Microsoft Points, and we expect that our very own Forza fanatic Ross will be reviewing the Rally Expansion Pack sometime soon.
